The Perfect Home

I have found my dream cottage... in Birmingham, Alabama.

No, I'm not thinking of moving to Alabama, but how beautiful is this home? The simplicity of the soft off-white walls, neutral tones, and gorgeous wood throughout make this my perfect home. And the pops of dark red in the dining room - just wow. Betsy Brown really outdid herself in designing this amazing home for herself and her youngest daughter.

Pronounced foo-tah

One of my good friends, S, gave me a fantastic gift a few months ago - a fouta. Foutas are 100% cotton machine-washable towels made in Tunisia. And ever since I got mine I've been obsessed. I've used it as a blanket, worn it as a scarf, and it's even accompanied us on a few trips to the park.  Foutas can really be used as towels, blankets, throws, tablecloths... everything and anything. They are extremely multifaceted and come in a wide variety of colors. Pauline, the founder of Fouta Lifestyle, is making these amazing Tunisian towels available to us online. Definitely go order one... or a few!

Fouta at the breakfast table, pool, streets of Brooklyn, and the beach of St. Bart's. Love my fouta!!

p.s. WOW

Seriously. WOW, wow, wow. I would love to slip these on with skinny jeans or a short skirt. WOW. That's all.

I want, I need...

Irene put a serious damper on my weekend plans so I spent most of the day Saturday surfing the internet in search of the perfect pair of short boots. Needless to say, I think I found them.
Belle by Sigerson Morrison
I love the low, chunky, wood heel and the metal buckle! They also come in a suede taupe color that's seriously pefection.
How do you like these?

Friday Thoughts

                                                  Random Friday thoughts...

J. Crew Fall collection featuring ballerinas

personalized wedding puzzle guest book from Etsy

comfy chunky sweaters

bright living spaces with floor to ceiling windows
gold plated bangles

colorful balloons = fun celebrations
This weekend is filled with exciting plans - my first wedding dress fitting (aaah!), dinner and drinks with the girls, a surprise birthday party, dinner with family, and a lot of new magazines to browse through. And even though Hurricane Irene (rain, rain, go away!) might be paying us a visit, I am truly looking forward to all these things and a break from work.
What's on your agenda for the weekend?

New in the Meatpacking District

Zac Posen is opening his very first stand-alone boutique in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. The space will be devoted entirely to his Z Spoke collection, with prices ranging from $270 to $500. His favorite tones of charcoal, light gray, and black will stand next to pops of fuchsia and blue in this cozy 725 sq ft boutique. The boutique will also carry exclusives like limited-edition Rod Keenan hats ($195), Posen–printed silk scarves ($90), and a selection of rare first-edition books from the shuttered East Village bookshop Gallagher Paper Collectibles ($50 to $400).
Make sure to stop by 875 Washington Street to check out this new Meatpacking District addition.

B Brian Atwood

I literally jumped off my chair when I heard the news - Brian Atwood's new collection, B Brian Atwood, was being introduced and would be available starting in August. If you are a fan of sexy luxury footwear, Brian Atwood's name is nothing new to you. The genius American shoe designer has incorporated glitter, fringe, and leopard into his fun and sexy new collection. AND the prices are more affordable - although still somewhat steep. Maybe a surprise sale will come around... sigh

The sparkling Liese is by far my personal favorite. The shape of that shoe is simply dreamy!

The collection is currently available at Saks online and will hit stores soon!

Current Wish List

The days of Fall are fast approaching and I find myself rather lost. I feel like my closet is not even close to being ready for cooler days and this is concerning. As a result, the past couple of weeks have been spent tearing pages out of September magazine issues and drafting my Fall wish list. (I also have a birthday coming up so maybe, just maybe, I'll be lucky enough to get something from my wish list!)  Silk button down shirts, short boots, a tweed jacket/blazer, a few pairs of bright bottoms, and an incredible, oversized satchel round up my Fall must-haves.

Silk button downs and statement necklaces

Short boots

Mulberry handbag

cut-off shorts

colorful bottoms

structured tweed jacket

Shirt: Banana Republic, Tweed Jacket: J.Crew, Pants: JCrew, Satchel: Mulberry
Have I mentioned before that I love J.Crew? Jenna Lyons is brilliant and I'm loving their Fall collection!

Sheath-ing it

Emma Roberts in Asos

Sheaths have been all the rage this summer and I predict they will stick around for Fall. This cream and black number from Asos is, in my opinion, absolutely perfect. And for $83.09, I don't think you can do better! The skinny belt accentuates your waist and the mesh panels show off just enough skin to make it a sexy little number. Even Emma Roberts was spotted wearing it at an LA screening! I think I'm going to hop on this Asos boat ASAP.

Arm candy

Arm candy is everywhere these days and I personally love it. Mix and match different styles of bangles, metals, and friendship bracelets to make up your own collection that's both edgy and chic. Suzanne and Carrie of RAVEL have transformed their NYC apartment into a jewelry studio where they know exactly how to create arm candy perfection. Their FishBone collection, currently available on Etsy, mixes different materials and colors to create that amazing bracelet you must add to your collection!  Go on over to Etsy and order a few... they look great mixed and matched!

Double Wrap FishBone (gold and pale rose)
Personal favorite!
Seriously - how amazing are these?

Check out Society Social!

Society Social, founded by Roxy from My Cup of Te, is here! Society Social describes its pieces as  "vivacious, legendary, always ridiculous, and never for a second boring!"  The entire line comes in a range of playful colors and the bar carts are seriously to die for.  I think you're in for a big treat!

The Hostess / The Madison Mixer / The Stanton
I'm thinking that the Stanton bar cart would be perfect in our dining room!

The Fifi chairs
The Marilyn Lounge Chair
How amazing are all these pieces? Also check out their Manifesto Magalog for some great decorating ideas and inspiration!

A little beauty shopping

All New Yorkers know that there's a Duane Reade in almost every street corner. In fact, there's one a block away from our apartment in the West Village and I must admit it's a good thing to have so close. I go there at least twice a week for some little odd or end and almost always end up with a bag full of new beauty products to try out. Here's a list of my latest and greatest drug store finds...

Cetaphil Skin Cleanser

Hands down the best face wash out there. It's gentle on your skin, but leaves your face feeling squeaky clean. Seriously.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment

There's nothing less attractive than cracked, chapped lips. I have one of these bad boys in every handbag I own and I swear by them. Best lip balm there is! Your lips will feel the difference.

Nivea Express Hydration Daily Lotion

This body lotion smells like ocean breeze... if that makes any sense. And you can really feel your skin quenching its thirst. Superb.

Biolage Smoothing Shampoo
I know, I know, not the cheapest shampoo out there. However, it's so worth it. It smells amazing and leaves your hair silky smooth.

Do you have any favorite drug store finds? I could probably go on and on, but these are definitely my top rated ones.

Bonnie's Cape

A new trend this Fall are the capes and I predict they will be a HOT item. However, if you're thinking anything like me you're picturing little red riding hood in her cape roaming the woods. Coach, a brand known for it's classic and timeless handbags and accesories, has introduced a cape that has taken my breath away. As part of their new Poppy line Coach has created Bonnie's Cape. Named after Coach designer Bonnie Cashin, this cape combines all the elements a girl could want in a feminine, structured and luxe wool cape. The leather trimming and military details make this cape a standout piece that must become part of my Fall wardrobe.

How do feel about this trend?

Street Style: Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo has a way with fashion. Her look is always chic, flirty, and fun. Always perfectly polished, but never over the top, Olivia has a way of inspiring me... and my wardrobe! I really do feel like I just want to copy her every look. And this one is no exception!

How amazing is it?! I'm a huge fan of stripes, oversized bags, big sunnies, and statement necklaces so this whole ensemble is right up my alley. Here are my choices to make it happen...

Striped Tee: J.Crew, Leather Skirt: Zara, Necklace: Dannijo, Shoes: J.Crew

Bag: J.Crew, Trench: J.Crew
I really need the Zara leather mini skirt...

Weekend Recap: DC

This weekend K and I drove down to DC for his brother's 30th bday. DC always brings back fond memories of our college years at GW so we were both looking forward to a night out in the town with family and friends, pre-dinner drinks at Poste, a delish dinner at Zaytinya (that never fails to impress me!), and post-dinner bar time. On Sunday we went out for brunch at Circa in Dupont Circle (highly recommended! the omelet lorraine with gruyere, ham and leeks must be tried) and walked around the shops in the Georgetown area. K and I were impressed with how much DC has changed and how beautiful it continues to be!

We miss DC.
p.s. I promise to start posting better quality and many more pictures as soon as we get our new camera! Can't wait!
