Travel Truffle: Spain

I was lucky enough to have studied abroad n Spain for 6 months during my junior year in college. After spending Winter break at home in Puerto Rico, I went back to DC to pack my bags and head to Sevilla, Spain. Sevilla is one of the largest cities in Spain, located in the southern region of Andalucia. Sevilla is absolutely magical. The winding streets, the history, the cafes, the croquetas... everything about is marvelous. I dream of going back to Spain and exploring all those places  that were home to me for half of a year. In the meantime, I leave you with images of one of the cities I will be exploring on my next tour to Spain - Hotel Viura in Villabuena de Alava.

This ultra-modern hotel, designed by Spanish architects Designhouses, is located at the heart of an old, traditional village. The hotel architecture is truly unique - a series of cubes, one on top of the other, that seem to rise out of the ground.

It's amazing how the modern and old are combined so perfectly in this small boutique hotel in the middle of a country I love.

  8. Looking back, not studying abroad was one of my biggest mistakes in college. However, with the bf's new job, they have a work abroad program where they pay for your housing for as long as you'd like to work abroad, so who knows, maybe not all is lost!

  15. Studying abroad in Spain was the absolute best time of my life. I lived in a little town called El Puerto de Santa Maria near Cadiz. But my favorite cities were Sevilla, Ronda, and Arcos de la Frontera. If you haven't been to the latter two, you need to include them along with Villabuena de Alava. The pictures of the hotel you posted look incredible! And the view from hotel's terrace...wow. I don't think any trip could ever top my experience living in southern Spain.
