Current Obsession: Boticca

I have found yet another truffle in the magical online world. One word: Boticca. Have you visited this fabulous online marketplace? I suggest you do if you haven't already. They have one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces and accessories from up and coming designers from around the globe. Now, for a brief introduction to the idea behind this online marketplace...

1. Name of Business, Year it opened
Boticca launched in 2010; the company headquarters are in London.

2. Why do you describe Boticca as a marketplace? Boticca is a marketplace, because just like in a marketplace, where you have such a variety of sellers and works, via the Boticca curated online platform, for the customer it is just like this very experience. The Boticca platform enables the customer to discover designers from all over the world and to connect directly with the designers, to discover their stories and the inspiration behind their pieces. At the moment there are around 240 designers from almost 40 different countries.

3. Who are your fashion curators?
The responsibility of curating the site and overseeing the process of designers joining and having a shop on Boticca falls to our style-hunting team. When they are scouring the world for new independent design talent, they are corresponding with designers, helping them with their designer profiles and to manage their orders and shops, receiving samples and reviewing profiles.

4. What are some of the countries your curators visit to find unique pieces?
A significant part of the job revolves around travel. Our style-hunters go on around several style-hunting trips a year. This year they have been to Amsterdam, Madrid and Japan, and are soon to embark on a trip to Bologna, Italy, in search for independent designers with interesting, well-thought out work. Many of the designers they meet on these trips go on to join Boticca, such as Oh my bag! leather bags, a designer that the style-hunters discovered while in Amsterdam. Likewise, with the gorgeous pieces such as chunky rings by Ines Susaeta, the style-hunters came across her work while in Madrid.

5. How can you apply to become a featured designer?
To apply to sell on Boticca, simply fill in the application form, found by clicking on 'Why join Boticca' in the section called 'Our designers' at the bottom of the page.

See what I mean? It's such a unique concept and a truly amazing shopping experience. Here are some of my current favorites:

1. Gemma Redux Caroline Necklace, 2. Olive Tree Ring, 3. Carved Mother of Pearl and Coral Earrings, 4. Wild Gold Clutch 5. Turquoise and Coral Earrings, 6. Infinity Wire Crochet Bracelet, 7. Greek Chic - Bracelet, 8. Conos Necklace, 9. Brown Cherie Bag
