Vest It

I think of a vest as a perfect way to accessorize. It's like a blazer, but sometimes more casual and fun. Lately I've been seeing them everywhere - store fronts, runways, magazines. These are some of my current favorites...

Honey Rosemary Chicken with Roasted Veggies

I love putting on my chef's hat on Sunday afternoons and whipping up a nice little meal to end the weekend on a healthy and savory note. This weekend I decided to try out Joelen's Honey Rosemary Chicken and grill some broccoli and butternut squash. Truth - this chicken is perfectly sweet and juicy and SO easy to make! Takes no time and you probably have all the ingredients you need already in your pantry. Bon appetit!

p.s. I'm also over at Illusive Print sharing some jewelry inspiration. Don't forget to stop by and meet the fabulous Ashleigh! xo

Nude Neutral

I've become a huge fan of nude tones. A nude top, dress, shoe, accessory goes with everything and anything and works year round. I'm particularly smitten with nude blazers - easy to dress up or down and elegant. A nude blazer may be my next big purchase. Thoughts?

Lunch Break

Blazer: Stylestalker (on sale at Edith Hart), Jeans: GAP, Tank: BB Dakota (old), Shoes: Tory Burch, Handbag: Derek Lam (in stores), Necklace: Ippolita.

It's a beautiful summer day in NYC today so my coworker and I decided to go for a little stroll in search for a healthy lunch break place. I just love walking around the city on days like today and getting a bit of much needed fresh air.
p.s. I'm sporting my new amazing Derek Lam handbag. Perfect size and color to transition easily into Fall. Yep, I'm in love.

Sunny Day Craving: Acne

Want, want, want. Do not need at all. I guess that's why this is a completely unnecessary craving. Seriously, how pretty are these pretties? Oversize, brown, handmade, and Acne. Yes, those Swedes are brilliant.

Off To Brunch

Brunch is one of my favorite meals. I love going out for a late morning, early afternoon meal on the weekend with friends or the hubby and then going for a nice stroll afterwards. Our neighborhood, the West Village, is filled with amazing brunch spots so we try and squeeze a little brunch outing once every few weeks. So, if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a good place for a delicious brunch, here are some of my favorite spots: Cafe Cluny, Good, Elephant and Castle, Dell'anima, and Corsino.

Scenes From Home

I wanted to share with you three of my favorite corners of our home. We rent a one bedroom apartment in the West Village and even though I wouldn't mind having a bigger place with more storage space, I do love our little humble abode. Some changes do need to be made - enter a new couch, coffee table, paint, and some other small details - but all in all, I think Kenny and I have created a space we love to come home to.

My bedside table includes some essentials: Tocca candle, perfume, and lotion plus my small N ring box.
Our entry table with my favorite wedding picture.

A Few of My Favorite Things

I haven't told you all, but I'm on a little bit of a spending freeze. I'm trying to stay away from stores and online sales for a bit because there's a few things I really want for my birthday which is in two months. Yes, I know two months is a long time, but I'm trying to be good so I can really treat myself to something special come September. However, just because I'm not actually purchasing anything doesn't mean that my always growing wish list has all of a sudden stopped growing. So here are some of my favorite things...

Latest Obsession: Meli Melo Handbags

I had been eyeing these pretties for a few months and then when I saw them on Gaby's blog a few weeks ago I was further convinced that I just needed to introduce you all to Meli Melo. I consider myself a big fan of large, structured handbags and these have all the qualities I look for in the perfect bag. I'm particularly obsessed with the Thela design, but we'll discuss more about that in a bit. Now, so you learn a little more about these beauties, I had the chance to conduct a brief interview with Paola, a sales executive at Meli Melo.

1. When was the company established?
It was established in London in 2005.

2. Where does Melissa Del Bono, creative mastermind behind the line of handbags, draw her inspiration from?
Melissa Del Bono has a natural entrepreneurial spirit, brought up by her English mother and Sicilian father who have been a strong inspiration for her business, in a truly international, multi-cultural background in Sicily whilst always seeking to foster her business savvy spirit and creativity. Her Italian origins and traditions are to her a way of life and these values will always be at the core of her brand ethos and Meli Melo philosophy. Some of Melissa's creations are names after her closest friends or family, allowing her to creadit those around her for inspiring her to continue her dream. Her great passion for interiors and art is reflected in the sculptural and defined shapes of her creations.

3. What makes Meli Melo handbags unique?
Sculpted and skilfully shaped, Meli Melo bags are tenderly made by artisans in Europe with only the most expensive Italian leather, creating a fervent image based on strong designs. The signature bag belonging to the company the 'bon bon' has evolved over the years becoming the face of the company. The infamous 'Thela' bag is internationally sought after and is a 'sell out' sensation. Celibrity clientele such as Olivia Palermo, Poppy Delavigne and princess Kate Middleton are all devotee's of the brand. The company continues to evolve, and now Meli Melo is entering into a more mature stage, taking the current collection to new heights, experimenting with different materials and designs with plans to brand further afield into accessories over time and outside the fashion world.

So, what are your thoughts? Personally, I'm in absolute love and can't wait until one of these beauties is out and about with me in NYC.

Blueberry and Raspberry Pretzel Dessert

I really enjoy discovering new delicious and easy recipes. During my parents in law July 4th party in Bethany Beach I tried out a dessert that was brought over by a friend of theirs. This dessert was seriously decadent! I immediately asked my mother in law for the recipe and was amazed at how incredibly easy it is to make. A few simple ingredients, eight minutes in the oven, and voila! This dessert is perfect for the summer time so ou must try this and let me know how you like it.

Pretzel layer in the bottom right out of the oven
Cream middle layer
Adding fresh fruit as the top layer

Blueberry and Raspberry Pretzel Dessert:
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup melted oleo
4 tbsp. sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
12 oz Cool Whip
1 can blueberry pie filling
Fresh raspberries for the finishing touch!

Mix together crushed pretzels, 4 tbsp. sugar, and oleo. Press into bottom of 9x13 in pan and bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Set aside to cool. Cream together cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, and Cool Whip and put on top of cooled pretzel crust. Spoon the blueberry pie filling as a third layer on top of the cream layer and finish off with as many raspberries as your heart desires!
* You can make the third layer with any fruit you want!

Road Trip

Road trips are so much fun. Especially when it's warm out so you can roll down your windows, listen to some good music, and daydream about your destination. I dream of taking a nice, long road trip along Highway 1 in California. Making stops in all the cities I haven't yet visited and ending the trip in Napa. Sounds like a good plan, don't you think?

Judith Leiber's Overture

via
I see them every once in a while - a lucky lady with an ahhhmazing Judith Leiber crystal encrusted clutch. Have you seen them? They are expensive, but seriously beautiful. Well, lucky for us, Judith Leiber is introducing a more reasonably priced line of her gorgeous clutches and I'm uber excited. Overture is the name of her new line that will include clutches ranging in price from $195 to $695. The line will include 15 styles - leopard prints, chunky chains, and metallics - all geared towards a "young customer who aspires to be a part of the Judith Leiber brand." The line will hit stores this Fall and I can't wait to see these beauties in person.

Tuesday Craving: Steve Madden

Leopard loafers are just so much cooler than leopard flats. Although leopard anything is pretty darn cool either way. So, are you as big a fan as I am?

Protect Your Pumps

How sad is it when our favorite shoes get ruined? New York was made for walking and these sidewalks are not the nicest to our precious shoes. I personally have a pretty significant shoe obsession and try to protect them as best as possible to prevent the heartache of having to throw them down the trash chute. Well, fret not because I would like to introduce you to Protect Your Pumps, a new creative way to protect your  shoesies. Let's hear a bit more about the product from Kathryn herself...
1. WHY I CREATED PROTECT YOUR PUMPS: I created this product because like most women, I have a serious shoe addiction. I marvel at the designs of Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Brian Atwood, and Giuseppe Zanotti!! I also love my Steve Madden, Aldo, Jessica Simpson, Dolce Vita, and Kelsi Dagger pumps. It doesnt matter if I spend $60 or $600 on my shoes I can not stand when the bottoms get dirty and scratched up really quickly. While some people don’t care how the bottom of their shoes looks, it is not ideal to sit down, cross your legs wearing a beautiful pair of Giuseppes and you show the world your soles which look like they have just been in a fight and drug through the mud!" Our customers have used Protect Your Pumps with great success on brands such as Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Dolce Vita, Seychelles, Badgley Mischka and many more.

2. BRIEF PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Protect Your Pumps is a protective non slip transparent adhesive. The adhesive is placed on the bottom of the shoe (sole). It is designed for shoes that have a leather sole. The adhesive will need be changed after several wears, many customers have gotten over 9 wears out of one pair! The adhesive will attract some dirt, yet it will keep your shoes protected.

To Protect or Not Protect, that is the question.
Isn't this brilliant?! I certainly think so and my shoes really appreciate it! Now, if you're interested, Kathryn has been kind enough to offer FT readers a 15% discount off your purchase. You just need to use code "truffles" and tada! Enjoy, luvies!

Yoga Gear and a Discount

I know, I know. I'm a bit late with this one, but I just took my first yoga class this past Sunday and it rocked my world. My real life friend, Roxy, of On The Rox invited me to attend her first yoga class (she's officially a yoga teacher!) and I couldn't be happier that I did. I always heard how yoga transformed people's bodies and was such a great work out, but for some reason I was never into the whole idea and stuck to my running, weights, and all the usual stuff at the gym. Well, I was wrong. Very wrong. I was seriously aching after class and felt completely rejuvenated and full of energy. I worked out muscles I didn't even know I had! In honor of my first yoga experience I give you my picks for "yoga gear"!
p.s. I just received this Lo&Sons O.M.G. bag and it's unreal. It fits anything and everything, but still feels light. Seriously, you need one. Just use the code FASHIONTRUFFLES to receive a 25% off anything in their website! ENJOY!

Fourth of July Style

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. The Fourth officially marks the start of summer on my personal calendar and we usually spend it at the beach with Kenny's family. It's become a tradition of sorts to drive down to Delaware for the long weekend and spend the days lounging at the beach, eating crabs, and spending quality time with family. This Fourth will be no different and I'm so looking forward to five whole blissful days in Bethany Beach. How are you spending your Fourth of July?
