Post-Sandy Sweater Weather

Post Sandy clean-up has started and the temperatures have dropped dramatically. We're now looking at 40s in the city and other than daydreaming of getting the power back, I also daydream of cozying up with any of these sweaters... Which one is your favorite?

A Statement Handbag

Alexandra Satine Handbag c/o // Helmut Lang Blazer // IRO T-Shirt (in stores) // J Brand Skinny Jeans // Rag & Bone Newbury Booties // Derek Lam Sunglasses (in stores) // Gorjana Necklaces // Asha by ADM Zodiac Ring

I'm totally in love with this animal print tote bag from Alexandra Satine. It's spacious, beautifully crafted, and definitely makes a statement. I sported a simple look with jeans and a black blazer while walking around the city on Friday and what was the best part of the outfit? The handbag, of course.

One Year

Exactly one year ago I married my best friend. He's my partner in crime and biggest supporter. The one that never fails to make me smile and always listens. He's truly the man of my dreams and the love of my life. Happy Anniversary, Kenny!

1920s Recap

What a fun evening! We rented out the basement floor of Entwine Wine Bar in the West Village and it was the perfect venue for a 1920s costume party. I must say everyone went above and beyond with costumes and that made for a perfect group picture. Happy Birthday, Maria!

The Roaring 20s

via

I have been planning my bestie's 30th birthday for a few weeks now and the day is almost here. We will be celebrating, 1920s style - in honor of Halloween, her upcoming big 3-0 at a bar in NYC tomorrow night. I have rented the space, sent out invitations, purchased my costume (and the hubby's), and ordered the cupcakes. She arrives today and the celebrations will begin as soon as she steps into our apartment. Don't worry though - I'll be sure to keep you all posted via Instagram (viv_fashiontruf) and a recap on Sunday.
Happy weekend, luvies!

Milly Leopard Handbag
Who doesn't love a pop of leopard? It's a fun neutral especially if worn as an accessory. I have a pair of leopard pumps, leopard flats, a button down, but no bag. Maybe it's time to make the purchase.

Here's some more Milly:

The perfect weather for a cozy sweater (my favorite thing!) and light jacket. Kenny and I have been enjoying exploring the city and going out for brunch on Sundays before the football games start (did you know I'm a huge Ravens fan?!) to take advantage of the perfect Fall weather.

Travel Truffle: Bangkok

Our first stop on our January trip to Thailand will be the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok. This is the original Mandarin so we're thrilled we'll get the chance to stay there. The hotel sits on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and most of the rooms have stunning views of the water. Kenny and I are excited to explore Bangkok, its markets, and the Grand Palace which is only a short boat ride away from the hotel.

Tilly Doro Giveaway

I first saw Tilly Doro's pieces at Teich, a small boutique in the West Village, a few months ago. I fell in love with the unique pieces - delicate bracelets and colorful necklaces, all one-of-a-kind. I figured you guys would love to be introduced to this small jewelry line and would fall in love just as I did.

1. Name, Age, and Year business started: Nogah Rotstein, age: 31 (ah!), started business in 2008

2. What is your professional background and why did you start Tilly Doro?
I studied art history in college and always enjoyed drawing, painting, sewing and any creative artsy project.
I inherited a box full of old costume jewelry and decided to take some apart and redesign them into more interesting pieces. It was like making a wearable collage. I made one-of- a kind necklaces and earrings as gifts for friends and slowly put together a portfolio and started selling to boutiques.

After working as a designer for larger jewelry manufacturers for a few years I decided to finally launch my own line. I like the idea of smaller scale, unique handmade pieces. I prefer using overstock and vintage materials which have history, character and stories of their own and which are less wasteful to produce than large scale jewelry made overseas.

3. What does the name Tilly Doro mean?
Tilly Doro is named for my grandmother Tilly. She was a Holocaust survivor and always taught us to be mindful and that nothing should be wasted or taken for granted. The gifts she appreciated the most were the ones we made by hand, and this is something that has always stayed with me. Because I like to incorporate old "pre-loved" materials in my work, every piece from my one-off collection is an ode to the past.

4. Where do you find your inspiration?
I am usually inspired by the materials I work with and the found treasures that I come across in flea markets and estate sales. I imagine the story behind the locket or charm and add stones, beads, chain or fabric to bring it back to life in a new modern way. I prefer to follow my instinct rather than trends and enjoy creating something colorful and fun that feels special and timeless.

Now one lucky reader can enter to win the red Wrapped Necklace (pictured above - value $96)To enter the giveaway just leave a comment telling me which Tilly Doro piece is your favorite (mandatory)! And for a few extra chances (leave a separate comment for each):

Life Updates

via
I feel like this year is flying by. Do you agree? I also feel like I haven't given you guys a life update in a while so let's begin...
1. We're 19 days away from our first wedding anniversary and it's so surreal. It feels like our wedding was yesterday. Literally.
2. Remember what happened with our original honeymoon plans? Well, Kenny and I booked our second honeymoon/Asia trip a few weeks ago. We'll be going to Thailand for two weeks in January and I can hardly contain my excitement. Any recommendations?
3. There will be three new babies in our family come January. No, not my babies, but pretty darn exciting still. My two sister in laws are preggers. One with twinsies (boy and girl) and one with a onesie (but we won't know the sex until he/she is born!) Summary - I will be an aunt to a total of five Munchkins.
4. Don't know if you noticed, but the blog got a little makeover. Victoria of Vivaleur is seriously amazing. She made all my blog design dreams come true. Now, how do you like it?
5. The next few months will be a bit crazy with events and travel. In addition to our first anniversary at the end of month, we have the wedding of one of my besties in DC, my sister in law's shower, Christmas in Puerto Rico, and a few other things on the calendar. I also have some exciting things going on in the blog so stay tuned for those!

Ok luvies, I think I just updated you on a few fun things that are going on right now. Be back tomorrow with some fashion and style.
xx

KENZO Paris

How unbelievable was KENZO's second collection in Paris? I'm pretty much swooning over the colors, prints and silhouettes - all inspired by interior design. The line's new creative directors, the duo behind Opening Ceremony, have really outdone themselves and I can't wait to own one of these pretties.

A Jewel On Park Avenue

Ivanka Trump's Park Avenue 10-room apartment is indeed a jewel. I fell in love as soon as I saw the bedroom and the foyer. And yes, that mural was hand painted. Unreal, huh? How about the driftwood table?! I must say, this 30-year old chick lives a pretty good life.
