From the Beginning

I always enjoy learning how bloggers started out - you know, what instigated that fashion bug to grow. Today, thanks to CLEAR Scalp & Hair Beauty, I'll be sharing my story - from the roots. My earliest fashion memory involves my dad taking me shopping for a dress when I was about 5 years old. I had been invited to a big birthday party and I wanted a pretty dress with big flowers on it (my mom loves to tell this story!) When my dad took me to the store and I decided I wanted a lot more than just a dress my dad quickly recognized a fashionista and shopaholic in the making (his words, not mine). As I grew older I started subscribing to all the fashion magazines and following more and more style blogs. As for the shopping, it became a tad more aggressive with a regular paycheck and I came to realize that most of my inspiration came from those very blogs and publications I was reading. I remember getting an email from my friend Laura telling me she had started a running blog. I immediately responded to her email praising her efforts and her motivation and asking her how she started it. I had no idea it was as simple as signing up with Blogger and writing! So yes, Laura was the one that told me the magic words - "Do it! What have you got to lose?!" And she was so right. The transition into starting my own fashion blog was an easy one - considering I already had the inspiration and motivation I needed. I've loved every minute spent researching brands, posting pictures, finding the right outfit, and tweeting/instragramming/facebooking like a maniac. Sure, the start (see my first post here) was a little rough and I definitely spent more time asking myself if all the time I was spending on a hobby was worth it, but turns out it was. I have never felt more motivated and inspired to do anything. I do have a 9-5 job that has nothing to do with fashion and I rarely wake up in the morning excited to go to work and looking forward to the new projects and Excel spreadsheets I'll be working on that day. However, I do wake up looking forward to my latest post, meeting new bloggers and designers, and reading about what the seasonal trends and favorite bloggers are writing about. My fashion obsessed roots date back to that day when I was five years old begging my dad for a zillion pieces of clothing and I can actually say that not much has changed since then. Now I just beg my husband.
